In one word, describe an extraordinary tale.
Folktale: a traditional story passed down orally from one generation to another, often about the adventures of a hero or heroine. Fairytale: a story, usually for children, about elves, hobgoblins, dragons, fairies, and other magical creatures. Myth: a widely held but false belief or idea; an exaggerated or idealized conception of a person or thing.
Concepts:
The Brothers Grimm were the first to record extraordinary tales in their 1812 book Children's and Household Tales. The oldest known collection of extraordinary tales is the Indian Panchatantra, written in Sanskrit around 500 BC. The original versions of extraordinary tales were often much darker and contained more violent content than the versions we know today.
