In a few words, what is plot structure?
Plot is the main sequence of events in a story. It is made up of the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. The plot shows the cause and effect of the characters' decisions.
Plot Structure
Plot Structure: The order in which a story's events unfold, including the beginning, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. Rising Action: The part of the story after the exposition (introduction) in which the protagonist faces increasingly difficult conflicts that move the story toward the climax. Climax: The turning point in the story, where the protagonist makes a significant decision or faces a crucial challenge that will determine the outcome of the story.
Concepts:
The plot of a story usually follows the Freytag Pyramid Model, which is a five-act structure consisting of exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. Plot structure can also be presented in a three-act structure, which is a variation of the Freytag Pyramid Model. In addition to Freytag Pyramid Model and three-act structure, there is also a four-act structure, which is basically a combination of the other two structures.
