Introduction to SAT Writing and Language
Writing and Language: The Writing and Language section of the SAT measures your ability to understand and edit text, including grammar, usage, and sentence structure. Grammar: Grammar is the rules for how words are used in a language, including syntax, punctuation, capitalization, etc. Usage: Usage is the correct application of grammar rules within a sentence structure.
The Writing and Language section of the SAT has 44 questions that must be completed in 35 minutes. It's estimated that the average student spends less than a minute per question. The Writing and Language section is the only section of the SAT that uses real-world passages.
