What is the quickest way to count?
Skip counting by 5s is counting by 5s: 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. up to 1000. Skip counting by 10s is counting by 10s: 10, 20, 30, 40, etc. up to 1000. Skip counting by 100s is counting by 100s: 100, 200, 300, 400, etc. up to 1000.
Skip Counting!
Skip Counting by 5s: A method of counting that involves counting in intervals of 5s, beginning with a given number. For example, starting from 0, skip counting by 5s would look like this: 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc. Skip Counting by 10s: A method of counting that involves counting in intervals of 10s, beginning with a given number. For example, starting from 0, skip counting by 10s would look like this: 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, etc. Skip Counting by 100s: A method of counting that involves counting in intervals of 100s, beginning with a given number. For example, starting from 0, skip counting by 100s would look like this: 0, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, etc.
Concepts:
In the late 1800s, mathematicians used a type of skip counting called 'finger reckoning' to calculate numbers. The ancient Babylonians used a base 60 system of counting, which involved skip counting by 60s. In some parts of the world, skip counting is used to teach math to children as young as 4 years old.
