The leading cause of death among 15-34 year olds worldwide is suicide. In the U.S., the suicide rate among African American children aged 10-14 increased by more than 50% from 1993 to 2018. The number of hospitalizations for suicidal thoughts and attempts among U.S. adolescents aged 12-17 increased by 24% from 2008 to 2015.
