Students will test a variable to determine its effect on the period of a pendulum. Students will identify the period, frequency, and amplitude of a wave.
Waves
Name three parts of the waves?
Waves are made up of two parts: a crest and a trough. Crests are the highest points and troughs are the lowest. The distance between two crests or two troughs is called a wavelength.
Parts of the Waves
Amplitude: The maximum height of a wave, measured from its centerline to its peak. Wavelength: The distance between two successive crests or troughs of a wave. Frequency: The number of waves that pass a fixed point in a given amount of time.
Concepts:
The wavelength of a wave is the distance from one crest to the next. The frequency of a wave is the number of crests that pass a point in a given amount of time. Waves can travel through solids, liquids and gases, but they require a medium to move through.

Question: How do the parts of a wave cycle work together? Clues: • A wave is made up of two parts: a crest and a trough. • Crests are the highest points of the wave, and troughs are the lowest points of the wave. • The two parts alternate in a cycle. In pairs: Select and solve one of the tasks: A. Work in pairs and draw a diagram of a wave cycle. B. Explain how the parts of the wave cycle work together.
