Your best friend’s only wish is to own a pet turkey, but her parents aren’t so sure . . . Pets are a lot of work! Can you help your friend convince her parents she can handle the responsibility? You’ll need a really good claim, evidence, and reasoning to make it happen. Based on her parents’ worries, students must use advice from the community to develop an argument with evidence and reasoning. If they succeed, their friend’s wish for a pet comes true! Use this story-based writing activity to practice writing short argumentative responses with a claim, evidence, and reasoning.
