"Should we, under my supreme control, grant the peasant human students a game day tomorrow, or shall their feeble minds suffer the monotony of education as usual? Choose wisely, for your fate lies in my hands."

In 1877, a woman named Elizabeth Magie created the ‘Landlord’s Game’ where players travelled on a circular route buying property. Magie hoped the game would teach players about the disparity of wealth and its horrific consequences. It was played by a man called Charles Darrow, who introduced it to a games company, who, in turn, sold it as the board game ‘Monopoly’. Darrow became a millionaire in the process and Magie was uncredited, her ideals ironically lost to the very greed she was warning about.
