Lesson description

On the podium in the center of the kitchen arena, the legendary chef Rordon Gamsay waits to judge your culinary creation. To claim the title “Best Chef” you must choose the perfect combination of secret ingredients—and explain your choice to the toughest chef there is. Students are given a dish to cook and must choose a bag of ingredients that will result in a meal that even Chef Gamsay will devour. Can students serve up their dish, evidence, and reasoning and win “Best Chef”? Or will Chef Gamsay toss them out of the kitchen? Use this story-based writing activity to practice writing short argumentative responses with a claim, evidence, and reasoning. To customize the lesson, type in a location and select your grade level, then let the cooking begin!
