Your team is playing your biggest rival—and you’re losing! You have one more chance to take the lead. The crowd is on the edge of their seats. As head coach, it’s all on you. Can you come up with a winning strategy? Based on each team’s skills, students must choose a strategy that will turn the game around. If they can choose the best strategy with the strongest evidence and reasoning, they just might win; if not, better luck next year. Use this story-based writing activity to practice writing short argumentative responses with a claim, evidence, and reasoning.
