Review: Describe Ocean Acidification
Today we will explore how Humans impact the ecosystem.
What is the human impact on ecosystems?

Humans have altered our environment through activities like deforestation and urbanization. Pollution from industrial processes, vehicles and other sources can harm ecosystems. Changes to the environment can disrupt the balance of species within an ecosystem.
Human Impact on Ecosystems
Habitat destruction: The destruction of an environment by human activity, such as through urban sprawl and pollution. Invasive species: A species that is not native to an ecosystem and can cause disruption or damage to the environment. Eutrophication: An increase in the concentration of chemical nutrients in an ecosystem, which can be caused by human activities such as fertilization and climate change.
A recent study showed that only 3% of the world's oceans are undamaged by human impact. Human activities are the main cause of species extinction in the world. Each year, humans add more than 30 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Question: How have human activities altered the natural balance of an ecosystem? Clues: • Look at how human activities like cutting down forests, over-fishing and pollution affect the environment. • Explore the connections between ecosystems, the organisms that inhabit them and how they interact. • Think about the long-term effects of human activities on ecosystems. In pairs: Select and solve one of the tasks: A. Draw a diagram of an ecosystem and how human activities have changed it. (detailed before and after) OR B. Write a story about how human activities have impacted an ecosystem.
