We don’t believe anyone wakes up in the morning with the problem, “I need AI!” The real problems to solve in education are student engagement, literacy, critical thinking, equity gaps, and keeping great teachers in the classroom. We focus on these problems, and sometimes AI is a helpful tool to solve them. To that end, we use AI in the following ways:

1. Create lessons that up-skill teachers

Picture your strongest classroom teacher. We use AI to create lessons that make those best practices achievable in every classroom, regardless of teacher experience or comfort with tech.

How we use AI: Our curriculum experts build the structure of our lessons, integrating research-based practices like gradual release, formative assessment, scaffolding, and the feedback loop. Based on human instruction and an emphasis on higher-order thinking, AI fills in content and activities.

The result: Student-centered lessons, where students are active participants, learning is relevant, activities spark human connection, and teachers are supported along the way.

2. Close the feedback loop every time

Imagine every student getting actionable feedback on their work every day. We use AI to close the feedback loop, with feedback aligned to rigorous rubrics and built-in opportunities to reflect and apply feedback right away—the most powerful way to move learning forward.

How we use AI: Curipod AI feedback is structured by our curriculum experts to align with rubrics and best practices. By design, students interact with AI once at a time. They never sit alone in a back-and-forth with the AI. In this way, teachers can monitor and edit AI feedback before it’s shared with the students.

The result: In a Curipod lesson, every student gets immediate feedback. But it doesn’t stop there. Students then come back together, discuss (often, passionately!) the feedback they received, and try again all in the same class period.

3. Provide actionable insights in a click

Envision your school with teachers who know class and student-level mastery, who needs more support, and what to do next. We use AI to synthesize participation and performance insights, as well as suggest action steps, in the click of a button.

How we use AI: Students complete Curipod activities. AI generates a report based on students’ participation and the AI feedback they received. Teachers see what’s going well and where students need more support, with actionable ideas to close the gaps.

The result: Teachers get back hours of time, yet are more equipped to provide data-informed instruction.

4. Safeguard student privacy

Data privacy is a human right, and we stay deeply committed to keeping student and teacher data safe and private.
How we DON’T use AI: We never use teacher and student data to train the AI models we use. Teacher and student personal data is never shared with the model providers at all.

The result: COPPA, FERPA and GDPR compliance. You can read more here.

Founded in our Learning Principles, Curipod is designed to do the impossible: Get students to look up from their screen and talk to each other. We use AI to support teachers—not replace them. We use AI to engage students in curiosity and critical thinking—increasing rigor, not reducing it. With Curipod, students who couldn’t see themselves in their learning and teachers who were ready to quit look forward to going to class.

We are transparent on which foundational models we are using. Currently we are using GPT4o, Dall-e, and Stable Diffusion. Note that the development of AI is happening at a rapid pace, and we will be changing out the models as new state of the art models become available.
