Learning Objective
The students will be able to identify various (common) landforms in Florida, including coastlines, rivers, lakes, and dunes.
Landforms are the natural features that make up the Earth's surface. Some examples include mountains, valleys, plains, and plateaus. The Earth's surface is constantly changing due to weathering, erosion, and other geological processes. Humans can also change the landscape by building dams, roads, and other structures.
Landforms: Earth's Shapes and Surfaces
The tallest mountain range in the world is the Andes. It spans an entire continent, stretching 4,350 miles from the southern tip of South America to the northern tip of Venezuela. The Grand Canyon is one of the most iconic landforms in the world. It was created by the Colorado River cutting through layers of rock over millions of years. The Great Salt Lake is the largest saltwater lake in the Western Hemisphere. It is four times saltier than the ocean!
