Name the two parts of a sentence?
Subjects are the main part of a sentence. They tell who or what the sentence is about. Predicates are the action or description of the sentence. Verbs and adjectives are found in the predicate. Both the subject and the predicate are important for a sentence to make sense.
Subjects & Predicates
Subject: a word or group of words that names who or what a sentence is about. Predicate: the verb in a sentence that tells what the subject is doing or what is happening to the subject. Compound Subject: two or more subjects in the same sentence that have the same verb.
Concepts:
A sentence can have more than one subject and predicate. The subject of a sentence can be a noun, pronoun, or phrase. A predicate can be more than one word, and can contain an adverb or adjective.
