Structures are the shapes and forms of things. Functions are the ways things work. Together, structures and functions help us understand the world.
Structures and Functions
Structure: A structure is a type of system that is made up of different parts that work together to form a whole. Function: A function is an action or a task that a structure performs. Interdependence: Interdependence is a relationship in which two or more parts of a structure rely on each other to operate correctly.
Concepts:
Almost all structures and functions in the human body are controlled by hormones, which are chemicals released by the endocrine glands. The longest and strongest bones in the human body are located in the legs and provide support for the body's weight. The human body has four types of tissue: muscle, nerve, connective, and epithelial. Each type of tissue has its own distinct function.
