Why is showing respect important?
You build a reputation as a kind, polite, person and people will want to spend time with you. You are more likely to make and keep good friends. You avoid hurting others feelings, damaging friendships, or your reputation. You are more likely to recieve help and support from others when you need it.
How to be respectful
Step 1: Think before you speak T - is it TRUE? H - is it HELPFUL? I - is it INSPIRING? N - is it NECESSARY? K - is it KIND?

Step 2: Choose kindness! If your thoughts are not kind or polite, do something else. Your brain has a brake system like a car, you can stop it by taking a breath and making a different choice.

Step 3: Have empathy! Consider what other people might be thinking and feeling. Put yourself in their shoes.

Step 4: Stand up for what's right. Sometimes it might feel easier to go along with the crowd and join in the behavior of your friends, but that’s not smart or fair. Be proud of making respectful and responsible choices.
