Now that we know what respect is (and what it looks and sounds and feels like), letโs talk about who we give our respect to, and how you decide whether or not to give someone your respect . Activity: Think about each question question carefully. Answer honestly (there are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers).
Who gets our respect?
Question 1: Does someone get your respect because of their intelligence? Do you give someone respect because they are smart?
Question 2 : Is it about them being a certain age? Like you choose to respect someone because theyโre older versus younger?
Does someone need to earn your respect?
How could someone earn respect?
Does someone get your respect by showing respect to you first? Or does someone get your respect just for being human?

Respectful or rude? Question 1 Laughing when someone shares something personal that happened to them.
Respectful or rude? Question 2 Asking before you touch someones body or belongings.
Respectful or rude? Question 3 Telling a friends personal business to another friend.
Respectful or rude? Question 4 Whispering and/or smirking to a friend while looking at someone.
Respectful or rude? Question 5 Helping someone who looks confused or lost.
Respectful or rude? Question 6 Using kind words when speaking about other people when they aren't around.
What do you think our definition of respect should be?
- Respect is treating someone how you and they would like to be treated.
- Respect is caring about the thoughts, beliefs, and rights of others.
- Respect is when you talk and behave in a way that makes you and others feel safe.
- Respect means you care enough to think about others feelings before you act.
