Did you know?
The first documented use of the exclamation mark dates all the way back to the 1st century AD. It was used by Roman poet Martial in his book 'Epigrams'! The period was originally called a 'full stop' because it was used to indicate the end of a sentence. The semicolon was invented by Italian printer Aldus Manutius in the 15th century to save space when writing Latin!
