Setting: where a story or event takes place. Authors can describe a setting to include geographic location, time, weather, and environment. Plot: a series of events that make up a story. Plots have five main parts that always take place in the same order: beginning (where exposition, or setting and characters are introduced), rising action, climax (the most exciting part), falling action, and resolution. Conflict: Conflict is defined as a challenge to the way a person thinks or behaves.
Concepts:
William Shakespeare is known for his use of rhetorical devices in his plays and sonnets. Henry David Thoreau used imagery to describe nature in his famous work 'Walden'. The language of 'Romeo and Juliet' is so famous it has been coined as 'Shakespearean English'.
