Active Voice: A sentence written in the active voice means that the subject of the sentence is the one doing the action of the verb. For example: 'The student wrote the essay.' Passive Voice: A sentence written in the passive voice means that the subject of the sentence is not the one doing the action of the verb. For example: 'The essay was written by the student.' Subject-Verb Agreement: In active voice sentences, the subject and verb must agree. In other words, both must be singular or both must be plural. In passive voice sentences, the verb is usually in the past participle form and agrees with the object of the sentence, not the subject. For example: 'The student have written the essay.' (incorrect) 'The student has written the essay.' (correct)

The use of passive voice can make your writing sound more formal and sophisticated. The verb 'be' is often used in passive voice sentences, but it can also be used in active voice sentences. Some languages, such as Latin, have only one form of verb tense, which is the passive voice.
