Fictional characters, historical figures and famous people often have reputations. A reputation can be good or bad - or somewhere in between, of course!
Our words and actions in real life affect our reputation. Our online behaviour can also affect our reputation. We need to think carefully before we post comments, images or videos and consider what other people will think of us, based on the things we say and do online.
Discuss if they have ever seen something from someone online and made a judgement or assumption about them?
It’s important to be truthful online and to keep private information private; if you wouldn’t tell everyone in real life, don’t post it online.
Look at the following statements that could be posted on social media and see if you would be comfortable posting them.

Think about your reputation and how other people might describe you. Choose three words that you would like others to know you as.
Reflect
Benjamin Franklin, a Founding Father of the United States of America, once said, “It takes many good deeds to build a good reputation and only one bad one to lose it.” Do you agree with this statement? Can you think of any examples where this could apply?
