International Women's Day (IWD) is an annual day celebrated on March 8th to recognize the achievements of women and promote gender equality. The first IWD was held in 1911 and since then, it has grown to become a global event celebrated in countries around the world. The theme for International Women's Day 2021 is #ChooseToChallenge and encourages everyone to challenge gender bias and inequality.

The earliest known Women’s Day observance was held on Feb. 28, 1909, in New York. The United Nations began celebrating International Women’s Day in 1975. The first National Women’s Day was celebrated in the United States in 1909, but it wasn’t until 1913 that it was officially recognized.
