What is the name of the study of shapes and angles?
Geometry is the study of shapes, angles, and lines. Geometry helps us understand the world around us. We use geometry to measure and build things.
Geometry Basics
Lines: A line is a straight path that goes on forever in both directions and has no thickness. Angles: An angle is formed when two rays or line segments begin at the same point and extend in different directions. Triangles: A triangle is a three-sided polygon with three straight sides that are joined together.
Concepts:
A triangle can have more than three angles. A triangle with four or more angles is called an 'exterior angle'. The angles of an equilateral triangle are all 60°. The angle sum of a convex pentagon is 540°.
