Cartooning: The art of drawing cartoons and comic strips. It involves using lines, shapes, and colors to create characters, stories, and humor. Gesture Drawing: A drawing technique used to help capture the movement and emotion of a figure by quickly sketching its pose in a few strokes. Storyboarding: The process of creating a series of sketches or illustrations to develop the plot or story of a film, advertisement, or other visual media.
Concepts:
The first animated cartoon was created in 1906. The first animated cartoon to be released to the public was called 'Fantasmagorie' and it was created by French cartoonist Émile Cohl in 1908. In the early days of cartooning, it was believed that the drawings should be of a certain size, with one head fitting into one square of a grid, so that the characters would appear to be the same size. This 'one-head-high' rule was established to ensure that the characters would be consistent in size.
