"sustainable energy sources"
Learning objective:
Energy is the ability to do work. It is found in many forms, such as heat, light, sound, electricity, and chemical energy. Energy is used to power machines and devices, like computers and cars. We use energy to heat our homes and cook our food.
Energy: What is it?
Energy is the ability to do work. It exists in different forms such as heat, light, and motion. Conservation of energy means that energy can be neither created nor destroyed, it can only be changed from one form to another. Renewable energy is energy that is replenished naturally, such as solar energy, wind energy, and hydropower.
Concepts:
The energy produced by one gallon of gasoline is enough to lift a car off the ground by more than a mile high. The average human body produces enough energy to power a lightbulb. The average human body can generate up to 8 watts of power over a 10-second sprint.
