The Water Cycle
Name the four stages of the water cycle in a few words.
The water cycle is the movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth It is a continuous cycle that is driven by energy from the sun and is essential for life on Earth The cycle includes evaporation, condensation, precipitation and infiltration
The Water Cycle
Precipitation: The process of water falling back to the earth in the form of rain, snow, sleet, or hail. Infiltration: The water soaks into the earth and is stored as groundwater. Evaporation: The process of water turning from liquid into vapor and entering the atmosphere. Condensation: The process of water vapor turning back into liquid and forming clouds.
Concepts:
Groundwater can be over thousands of years old. Every day, the sun evaporates a thousand times more water than all the rivers on Earth combined. The water cycle is powered almost entirely by the sun's energy, not by gravity.
