Types of conflict
Two types International armed conflict: Armed conflict between two or more international actors - known as war. Non-international armed conflict: Conflict between a state and one or more non-state groups - known as civil war.
Armed conflicts
There are many agreements between countries that are made in order to prevent conflicts. However, they are not binding in the same way as national legislation is. Countries have law enforcement, but there is no such thing for the international community. There are many organizations who work for peace and human rights, such as the UN. There is a constant struggle between order and cooperation on one side, and power and influence on the other.
