In one word, why do people lie?
We lie to protect ourselves and others from harm. We often feel pressure to lie to fit in or be accepted. We sometimes lie because it can be easier than telling the truth.
Why We Lie
Deception: The act of deliberately giving someone false information or beliefs. Self-Deception: A form of lying to oneself in order to avoid facing uncomfortable truths. White Lie: An often trivial, diplomatic or well-intentioned untruth.
